Margaret ("Peggy") Marian Mac Kendrick Coborn was born on June 23, 1927, in Bradford, Pennsylvania and she passed away Monday, January 27, 2025, in her room at the Victoria Gardens of Frisco Nursing Home in Frisco, Texas 75036.
What a long life she lived, and now she is with Jesus, for as the apostle, Paul, wrote, "To be absent from the body is to be with the Lord. She is now with Jesus, Gerald, and Karen in heaven, rejoicing together and worshiping our Father in heaven. In her latter years she suffered from many medical ailments, both physical and of the mind. She waited long and struggled for the opening when she could shed her body and fly into heaven and be with God.
She was 97 years, 7 months, and 4 days of age, just 15 days less than her mother, Shirley Jesse Anning MacKendrick (a seamstress), of Toronto, Canada, who preceded her in death along with her father, Charles Alfred MacKendrick (a produce manager for Kroger); her brother, Fred MacKendrick of Dayton, Ohio; and her daughter, Karen Joy Coborn. Margaret is survived by her son, Daniel Coborn, a minister and counselor in Frisco, Texas, and daughter-in-law, Sally (Taylor) Coborn. Surviving also are two granddaughters, Karina (Coborn) Pearce of Bentonville, Arkansas; one great granddaughter, Morgan Taylor Coborn; and her baby girl, Isla Quiroz, of Garland, Texas; and Karina's two sons, Coleman Pearce of Plano, Texas, and Hunter Pearce of Plano, Texas. Margaret is also survived by her granddaughter Nicole Kontaratos and husband, Dr. Jim Kontaratos; and two great grandchildren, Alex Nowik of Plano and Ava Nowik of Allen, Texas.
Margaret and Gerald were married 63 years, and pastored Assemblies of God churches, first in 1944, Ankeny, Iowa, then in 1946 at Cleveland, Illinois, on to Pontiac in 1950, and Abingdon, Illinois from 1954 through the Spring of 1961. They moved to New Sharon, Iowa, and pastored until 1967, and then moved to pastoring a church Waterloo, Iowa, in 1967 through 1975.
In 1975, Margaret and Jerry Coborn were appointed by the secretary of world ministries division of the Assemblies of God to be missionary evangelists teaching on "The Ministry of the Holy Spirit in the Life of the Believer and the Life of The Church." They ministered in 64 churches and Bible schools in 24 countries throughout the world, including: Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo; in West Africa: Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania and Zimbabwe; in East Africa: Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines; in Southeast Asia: Belgium, France, The Netherlands, and others; in South America: Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay; and Jamaica in the Caribbean. Their ministry worldwide spanned 21 years during which they taught over 10,000 believers, and prayed for spiritual empowerment, healings and deliverance from addictions and vices for them, and they observed many hundreds of miracles as people's lives were transformed physically, mentally, and spiritually wherever they ministered. At age 65, they returned to the states and pastored 2 more churches in Litchfield, Illinois, before finally retiring at 82 years of age. They had over 62 years of ministry serving God and others all along the way.
Jerry passed away in 2010. She moved down to Texas in 2014 to be near her son, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and this past summer, her first great, great granddaughter, Isla.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Brookdale Collin Oaks of Plano Assisted Living, The Hillcrest of North Dallas Nursing Home, Victoria Gardens of Frisco, and VNA Hospice for their loving care they provided for Margaret.
To the many thousands of people that she was privileged to minister to and with, thank you so much for your amazing love and the great interest, your service, and the love you showed during the Coborn's ministry.
All of us have experienced blessings far exceeding what we deserve. If you call, Jerry and Peggy are not here, but they are well, and they are having a good time experiencing what it is like to be freed from evil. God bless them and you.
