Marilyn’s illustrious life is defined by her dedication to serving. She began her career working as a student activities director at SMU and TCU while remaining actively involved in Gamma Phi Beta sorority, later serving on the Dallas Panhellenic Board. In 1980, she married Larry Callahan and dedicated her time to raising his three children.
In her later years, Marilyn relished traveling all over the world on cruises with her beloved husband, Larry. They never missed the annual wine tours to Sonoma and Napa with the Penney Pals, earning them a reputation as wine connoisseurs. Marilyn remained close to her sisters and her mother’s Vitali family by participating in family reunions, providing her opportunities to entertain the Italian relatives with cherished stories of family history. Marilyn also remained active in Assistance League of Greater Collin County.
Marilyn is survived by her children Scott Callahan and his wife, Shannon; William Callahan, his wife, Alyce, and their children, Juliette and Davies; Jill (Callahan) Kennemur, her husband, Michael, and their children, Sam and Kate; and her sisters, Kathy (Bachnik) Larson-Zastrow and Mary Jo (Bachnik) Sulzmann.
