Mattie Lee Sellers

The Lord has accepted Mattie Lee Sellers, daughter of the late Norfolk Sellers, and Mattie Mae Ellerbe Sellers. Born on December 30, 1948, in Latta, Dillon County, South Carolina, Mattie Sellers departed this world for eternal rest on October 26, 2024, after a lengthy illness.

She lived in Maryland for most of her life before relocating to Allen, Texas. Raised in the church by loving parents, she maintained a strong spiritual foundation all her life. In Maryland, she attended the New St. Mark Baptist Church in Baltimore. In Texas, she was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.

She enjoyed traveling, water aerobics, and participating in church activities.

Mattie Sellers worked for the Maryland Department of Human Services for several years before her retirement. She was a strong, independent woman who valued hard work. She earned her associate's degree in arts from the Community College of Baltimore.

Mattie Sellers is survived by her son, Eric Hall Sr., her daughter, Erica Obomeghie, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Norfolk Sellers, Jr. She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org) in honor of Mattie L. Sellers’s memory, supporting efforts to improve kidney health and research.

The family will hold a private celebration of life service.
