Raised in California, Maureen built her life around what mattered most — her family. Being a mother was not simply a role she held; it was her life’s calling. She was both of her daughter’s number one cheerleader, always encouraging, always believing. When her daughter Noel’s family, with whom she lived with, chose to move to Texas to pursue their dream, Maureen didn’t hesitate — she was right there for the ride, as she had always been, steady in her support and limitless in her love.
She answered to many cherished names — Granny, Mama, Mommy, Mamasocks — each one spoken with affection. While motherhood was her purpose, grandmotherhood was her greatest joy. Nothing delighted her more than watching videos of her grandsons, Boo and Liam. Their laughter was her daily light, their giggles stretching her smile from ear to ear. She showed her love in countless ways — warm embraces, thoughtful surprises, and the familiar joy of Amazon packages sent “just because.”
Maureen had a heart of gold and a spirit entirely her own — sharp-witted, inquisitive, and deeply attentive. A detective by nature, she asked questions because she truly cared. She found beauty in the simple things: the rhythm of rain, the whisper of the wind, the peace of the beach and the natural world. She lived simply, though those closest to her knew her occasional high-maintenance requests were part of her unmistakable charm. If Maureen loved you, you felt it — fully and without question.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Brandon Quigley.
She leaves behind the family who was her world: her daughter Christina Hallacy and her son, Brandon “Boo” Hallacy; her daughter Noel Pelayo, daughter/in-law Selenia Pelayo, and their son, Liam Pelayo; her grandson Tyler LeDoux, son of Brandon Quigley; and her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Cormack.
Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished beyond measure. To be their mom was her purpose. To be their Granny was her greatest blessing.
She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
Maureen’s deep love for the beach will serve as a meaningful inspiration for a Celebration of Life ceremony to be held at a later date, where family will gather to honor her memory.
