Ricky Ray Hammond Senior died unexpectedly on November 15th , 2025, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano. He was only 70 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Ricky was born on November 09, 1955, in Lumberton, North Carolina.
Ricky is survived and missed by his loving family; his mother Myrtle and his sisters Shane and Jodi. Ricky will forever be cherished and remembered by his daughters Sonja and Debbie, and sons Ricky Jr. and Brian. Ricky’s memory will continue to live on through his grandchildren, Joshua and Amara. Ricky was predeceased by his brother, Michael.
A devout Christian, Ricky spent many days in service to the Lord, his family, his country, and his community. He was always seen carrying a Bible and leaving small reminders of faith to carry him through the darkest times of his life and while uplifting others.
Ricky had many professions throughout his life. Ricky served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. Ricky also served as a private investigator, a team member for fugitive apprehension, a private security guard, and truck driver. Ricky found lasting peace by building and repairing motors as a small engine mechanic.
Ricky had an unquenchable thirst for history and his family. He was often spending time tracing his lineage and understanding where he and his family came from and was proud of his Lumbee heritage.
Ricky had strong values and was well liked by everyone due to his upbeat demeanor and positive personality. Ricky had incredible desire to serve his community and always made time to help others. Ricky preached kindness and always had a sticky note referring to Ephesians 4:32. Ricky’s legacy will be remembered as being kind and tenderhearted to others.
Lastly, we want to extend a heartfelt thanks to Jayme who was there for us on the night of his passing; to Kristen as she helps the family manage Ricky’s estate; and to the medical staff at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital for their dedication and care for Ricky during his final hours.
