Robert (Bob) Tobin, loving husband, father and grandfather, distinguished public servant, and US Army veteran passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024, aged 91.
Bob was born January 4, 1933, to parents Elva (née Siclin) and Francis Tobin, and sister Dorothy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
After graduating from West Philadelphia Catholic High School, he served in the 4th Infantry Division, Army of Occupation, Germany. Returning to the United States, he attended St. Joseph’s University under the G.I. Bill, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1957. After graduation he began a 38-year career with the Internal Revenue Service as an agent in Atlantic City, NJ. He served as the tax attaché at the US Consulate and Embassies in Sydney, Australia, Paris, France and London, England; ending his career as the Director, International in Washington, DC.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Patricia Mary Tobin (née McMahon, 1932-2024), with whom he raised four daughters. He will be remembered for his generosity, humility, his unwavering belief in fairness, and his sincere concern for the wellbeing of others.
He will be dearly missed by his four daughters and their husbands, Kathleen Keys (Donald), Marianne Halovanic (John), Sharon Tobin (Jason), Claire Tobin, and his seven grandchildren, Robert Tobin Keys, Gabriella Tobin Keys, Stephanie Halovanic, John Halovanic, Anne-Marie Halovanic, Michael Tobin Gomes, and Isaac Tobin Sarosi.
He asked: instead of flowers, kindly say a little prayer for him.
A funeral mass for Robert will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM at St Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1201 Alma Drive, Plano, Texas 75075.
