

Thomas Clifford Rawe, 68, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, August 26, 2012. He was surrounded by his loving family and his wonderful spirit will be remembered by family and friends alike.
Tom was born on September 30, 1943 to Homer Carolyn and Clifford L. Rawe in Velasco, Texas during a hurricane. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet Marie, and their sons, Clifford and wife, Ronnie, of Parker and Andrew and wife Stacy, of Plano. Tom’s grandchildren are Brandon, Preston, Andie and Samantha. Tom was a direct descendent of Texas immigrants, the Pennington family, who came to Texas in the 1820’s and a descendent of Hannah Boone Pennington, Daniel Boone’s sister. A Pennington fought at the Battle of San Jacinto and signed the Texas Declaration of Independence.
Tom, his parents and brother moved to Dallas in 1954 & he graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1961. He went on to earn a degree in History from Texas A&M University, Class of ’65, and served in the United States Marine Corps as a Captain in the reserves. He was one of the founding partners of Rawe-Mills & Assoc., Inc., a successful manufacturers’ representative business which he built over the past 39 years and is located at Dallas World Trade Center. His grandchildren were the joy of his life and he relished traveling with his family and friends. Some of his free time was spent reading, studying meteorology, golfing, hunting or fishing.
The Rawe family would like to send out a huge “thank you” for all the support and love showered on the family, especially over the past nine months of Tom’s illness. We are humbled by your caring. Gifts may be sent in Tom’s name to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Vitas Hospice or to St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plano, Texas. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10:30 am. Inurnment will follow in the Church Columbarium.
