Xiomara Hodgson

Xiomara (Mara) Hodgson, age 53, of Plano, TX, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Dallas Medical Center. She is survived by her son, Kyle Hodgson, her sister, Brigida Hodgson, and many more loving relatives in the US and Nicaragua.

She was born in Waspam Rio CoCo, North Caribbean of Nicaragua on December 13, 1968 to the late Florentina Poveda Clarence & Edward Hodgson Wilson.

Xiomara moved across several regions of Nicaragua due to living through wars as a child, but she had a loving family supporting her. Family and Faith was much more important than money in Nicaragua. Mara would say, “We work to live, not live to work.” At a young age Xiomara, Florentina and Brigida would sell bread for five cents to support each other daily.

Xiomara obtained a degree, on a scholarship, from Moravo Juan Amos Comenius.

As an adult Xiomara worked as a Nanny/Caregiver. Her influence on these children and families has been immense and is present today in the lives of all she encountered. In her spare time Xiomara enjoyed Zumba, exercises, gardening, and spending time with and watching sports with Kyle.

The love and focus of Xiomara’s life was her son Kyle. The two were inseparable and supported and loved each other unconditionally. Xiomara was unselfish in her support and love of others, always being available to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Xiomara was the true matriarch to her extended family.

Friends may pay their respects at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 President George Bush Tpke, Dallas, TX 75252 on Saturday, February 26th between the hours of 10a-12p, services to immediately follow.

Xiomara (Mara) Hodgson, de 53 años, de Plano, TX, falleció el sábado 19 de febrero de 2022 en Dallas Medical Center. Le sobreviven su hijo, Kyle Hodgson, su hermana, Brigida Hodgson, y muchos más parientes cariñosos en los Estados Unidos y Nicaragua.

Nació en Waspam Rio CoCo, Caribe Norte de Nicaragua el 13 de diciembre de 1968 de los difuntos Florentina Poveda Clarence y Edward Hodgson Wilson.

Xiomara se mudó por varias regiones de Nicaragua debido a que vivió guerras cuando era niña, pero tenía una familia amorosa que la apoyaba. La familia y la fe era mucho más importante que el dinero en Nicaragua. Mara decía: “Trabajamos para vivir, no vivimos para trabajar”. De pequeñas, Xiomara, Florentina y Brígida vendían pan a cinco centavos para mantenerse diariamente.

Xiomara se licenció, con una beca, de Moravo Juan Amos Comenius.

Xiomara trabajó como niñera/cuidadora. Su influencia en estos niños y familias ha sido inmensa y está presente hoy en la vida de todos los que conoció. En su tiempo libre, Xiomara disfrutaba de Zumba, ejercicios, jardinería y pasar tiempo y ver deportes con Kyle.

El amor y el centro de la vida de Xiomara era su hijo Kyle. Los dos eran inseparables y se apoyaban y amaban incondicionalmente. Xiomara fue desinteresada en su apoyo y amor por los demás, estando siempre disponible para ayudar a familiares y amigos. Xiomara era la verdadera matriarca de su extensa familia.
