Carlos was born on November 4, 1972 in Mexicali, Baja California. When he was about 7 years of age Carlos moved from Mexico to Chicago, Illinois with his family where he lived until about the age of 13 when his family made the move to Delano, California. Carlos attended Elementary, Middle School and High School in Delano. He graduated from Delano High School in 1991. Carlos went on to join the Army National Guard where he was a reserve for 8 years.
As a young teen Carlos worked at Topper’s Clothing Store in Delano. After graduating high school Carlos worked for Von’s Grocery Stores in Delano from the spring of 1992 to June 1994. He then went on to work with The Stonybrook Corporation in Keene, California from July 1994 to October of 1998 when he left to join the Delano Joint Union High School District from October of 1998 until his death.
Carlos was a very reserved and quiet person, until you got to know him that is. It often took some time for him to warm up to people, but if you were one of those lucky people, you had a friend for life. Carlos was one of the most loyal and giving people you will ever meet and he was always the first one to offer help when a friend was in need.
Carlos was a sports fan and loved watching all things sports on TV. When he wasn’t fixing something around the house, or somebody else’s house, you could find him in front of the TV watching ESPN. He was a huge Raider fan who always stuck with them, even thru the bad times. He loved watching the Raiders play and at the same time couldn’t sit still while they were playing.
Carlos is survived by wife Angelica and sons Carlos, Steven and Alec Lopez, his mother and step-father Graciela Lopez, and Agustin Sandoval, brothers Jose (wife Lupe) and Rodolfo Lopez and Jorge Del Real all of Delano, and his sister Elizabeth Sandoval of Earlimart, along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Alvaro Lopez.
Carlos leaves us with many memories to remember him by, and even though he will be truly missed by many, may we find some comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering. REST IN PEACE CARLOS, you may be gone but you will never be forgotten.
