Today we honor and celebrate the life of our beloved Carmelita Sue Holguin. She was born in Bakersfield, California, and raised in Wasco, California- where she grew into the fun-loving, high spirited and deeply caring woman so many came to know and love.
Carmelita met the love of her life, Carmen V. Holguin, in her early teens. They later married and shared more than 46 wonderful years together. Their life was filled with countless unforgettable moments that perfectly captured Carmelita’s vibrant spirit- “as crazy as the first day they met.”
She was the daughter of Felix T. Hernandez and Ysidra Hernandez and grew up in a large, close-knit family with five siblings. Carmelita is survived by her siblings Barbara Sharp, Michael Hernandez, and Lorreta Zavala. She was a devoted mother to April (Alonso) Delgadillo, Carmen (Grace) Holguin III, Amy (Edgar) Pantoja, and a proud grandmother to Carmen Jeremy Holguin IV, Adam Holguin, Timothy Holguin, Lily Gonzalez, Dalilah Gonzalez, Max Gonzalez, Leo Pantoja, and Milo Pantoja.
Carmelita’s warmth, humor, and spirited stubbornness touched everyone who had the joy of knowing her. She was truly one of a kind and lived life to the fullest every single day. She had a way of making everything brighter simply by being present. She will be remembered for her infectious energy, her unwavering devotion to her family, and the laughter she brought into every room.
Her love, laughter, and spirit will live on in all of us. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find peace knowing she is now resting in Gods loving arms. Goodbye to a truly wonderful woman-our eternal Wonder Woman. Your light, your laughter, and your love will shine on forever.
