Ernesto Cruz Taruc, of Delano, CA, age 82, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021 surrounded by his family’s love. He is survived by his loving wife, Josefina Pin Nunez Taruc: his daughters Myrissa, Mari Rose, Jasmine, and Daisy; sons-in-laws Ariel and Victor; grandsons Sidhartha, Kawayan, Miles, Vijay, Mason, and Josiah; and his sisters Gloria and Alicia.
He was born in Nueva Ecija, Philippines on September 18,1939 to Macario & Concordia Taruc. As the oldest, he helped take care of his four younger siblings after his father passed away when he was just 15 years old. He graduated from Far Eastern University in Manila with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He worked for the Philippine National Bank and owned a small rice mill in the Philippines.
Ernesto immigrated to Delano on March 6,1983 with his wife & 4 daughters for better opportunities for his children. As a new immigrant, he sacrificed by working in different industries to support his family. He worked hard in the grape fields, postal service, a security agency, Gibraltar Savings, Security Pacific Bank, ADP, as manager of an Arco gas station where he received multiple awards as Manager of the Year, and finally at a Chevron gas station in Delano where he retired.
He lived a full 82 years of life. Erning and Pin married on December 19,1971 and was just about to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. He instilled the value of hard work in his children and through their many sacrifices, he and Pin were able to see their 4 daughters graduate from UCLA, UC Berkeley, San Diego State, and UC San Diego. He got a chance to travel to Europe, Hawaii, Thailand, Canada, but he loved going home to visit the Philippines the most. From the Philippines to the US, Erning loved helping people and enjoyed seeing them become successful. He was always joking around, dancing the boogie, and being with his family. Whether he was sword fighting or playing chess with his “apos” (grandsons), or drinking coffee with his sons-in-laws & friends, he valued time spent in the company of good friends & family.
A one-day Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 9am-12pm at Delano Mortuary, 707 Browning Road Delano, CA.
