

Mary Soltero February 24, 1928 - October 18, 2012 Mary Petra Villa was born in Tulare, California, and passed away in Bakersfield, California, after a brief illness. She served a multitude of roles during her life journey, including those of wife, mother, friend, grandmother, counselor, homemaker, and traveler. During her excursions, she explored Europe, North Africa, and Mexico. Mary played an instrumental role in her husband's feat of winning 12 Little League championships. She was a dedicated supporter of her husband's 37-year coaching career in the Delano Little League. In addition, she played an active role in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Her devotion to St. Jude Thaddeus was also well known in the community, and she raised thousands of dollars to celebrate the feast of her patron saint. Mary's survivors include her husband of 63 years, Mr. Joe Soltero; her children Jill Soltero, Karl Soltero, and Madeline Soltero Parra; her sons-in-law Michael Parra, Ernest Ruiz, Jr., and Juan Rocha; her grandchildren Laura Parra Rocha, Joseph Parra, and Natalie Ruiz; and her great-grandchildren Michael and Jonathan Rocha. Services: Rosary and mass on October 29, 1:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Delano. Interment will follow at North Kern Cemetery District. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1015 Clinton Street, Delano, CA 93215. Mary's sharp wit, charm, and beauty will be sorely missed by her friends and family.
