Renato (Rene) Talactac Sr., age 77, was born in Santulan, Naic, Cavite, Central Luzon, Philippines on June 5, 1944, and went home to be with the Lord on December 13, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents Patricio and Maria Purificacion Talactac, and he was the youngest of 11 children. He migrated to the United States in the early 1970's, first arriving in the San Francisco Bay Area, then in Earlimart, CA for some time and eventually moved to Delano, CA where he spent the remainder of his life building a family and home. He made many friends over the years and across many miles travelled. He was well regarded near and far within the community as he was a small business owner of Jossie's Sari Sari store for over a decade, a chairperson for the Philippine Weekend singing contest, and an agricultural foreman. Even as Rene entered "retirement", he continued to provide for his family in many ways. He was a dedicated and affectionate grandfather who found much joy and pride in caring for his many grandchildren. You could always find him looking out from the front porch reveling in the daily bustle of our growing community. He enjoyed simple pleasures like spending time with friends and family, going fishing especially along the Morro Bay Coast, cooking countless delicious memorable meals, singing some of his favorite songs like "Twilight Time" by the Platters or "Put your head on my shoulder" by Paul Anka, traveling and sharing his wealth of stories. He was a man of many trades, creative and inventive, constantly interested in learning and teaching. He had deep roots and strong family ties, always wanting to gather his extended family together to encourage strong family bonds and unforgettable memories. He lived his life with much conviction and determination to spread joy, laughter and happiness to all those he was around. His endless jokes and natural ability to captivate a room truly speaks to his character. He was revered by many as the funny and cool uncle/ninong and was affectionately known as Lolo/Tito Pogi. He was a fierce protector of those he loved and a provider whose hard work was easily seen by his worn hands. He was, above all else, a heart of gold, with his proudest accomplishment as...our "Papa".
Rene was a beloved husband, survived by his wife, Lourdes, a loving father to his children: Jose Emil, Josephine Finley (son in law: Angel Jr.), Odessa (Son in law: Tommy), Lorena (Partner: Andrew), Renato Jr., Randy (New York), and Irene (Japan, son in law: Ryuji), and a selfless grandfather to his grandchildren: Kazuki, Angel III., Jose Jr., Megumi, Andrew, Mary Antoinette, Rustian Jay, Faith JoAnn, Sophie Tessa, Audrey Grace and Logan Thomas. He was a kindhearted brother and is survived by his siblings: Artemio, Helen and Marlette; and he was a friend/pare/uncle/ninong and dad to many.
