Rocky Alan Mathenia Sr.

A visitation for Rocky will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Funeraria Del Angel Delano, 707 Browning Road, Delano, CA 93215. Following the visitation will be a committal service from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Tipton & Pixley Cemetery District, 10395 Avenue 144, Tipton, CA 93272.

Rocky Alan Mathenia Sr. was born on November 17, 1954, in Tulare district Hospital. He grew up in and around Tulare county. He served in the United States Army 163rd Aviation Company 101st Airborne Division Assault as a 63B mechanic stationed in Ft. Campbell KY from 1975 to 1979. After his military service he mostly worked in farm labor as a machine operator, mechanic, and welder. Throughout his life’s journey he was married twice and had three biological children of his own and one stepson that he considered his own named respectfully Rocky Alan Mathenia Jr, Michelle Lee Mathenia, Jeremy Dean Mathenia, and Shane Prestley Farr. Rocky enjoyed spending his younger days hanging out with family and friends often camping and fishing with them and his children. In 1999 he became a grandpa for the first time and went on to have five grandchildren: Kyrin Shane Smith-Mathenia, Kamron Smith, Kiaira Smith, Wisdom Joy Mathenia, Allias Roscoe Mathenia-Maldonado. He also became a “Great grandpa” to Rylee Smith in the summer of 2019. Rocky is preceded in death by both parents Willie Roscoe Mathenia and Oneda Mathenia. Rocky is survived by his sister Doris Osborn, his children Rocky Mathenia Jr., Michelle Mathenia (Smith), Jeremy Mathenia, his grandchildren and great granddaughter, his many nephews and nieces and other beloved family members. After years of battling with many health issues he lost his battle with cancer and entered eternal life on March 24, 2024.

Serving as pallbearers are Rocky Mathenia Jr., Jeremy Mathenia, Kevin Smith, Kyrin Smith-Mathenia, Kamron Smith, Tommy Davis, Michael West and Rodney Campbell.
