Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Carol Ann Langley Heard; one son, Allen Trent Heard and wife Jonna of West Monroe; one daughter, Tressie Denise Fontenot of DeQuincy; three sisters, Betty Fern Hoosier of Pineville, Billie Jean LeBleu Brown and Mary Poole of DeQuincy; one brother, Kenneth Ray Dunn of Singer; five grandchildren that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Jenette Cooley Heard Whatley and step father, Roy Whatley; Four brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be held at Temple Baptist Church in DeQuincy on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 5pm until 9pm and will resume the following day at 10am. Funeral services will be held May 1, 2017 at 2pm at the church. Pastor Bruce Austin will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Baptist Church Youth Fund/Building Fund or the charity of one’s choice.
