

Bobbie Lee Martin, 92, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at a local care facility. She was born September 3, 1924 to Robert and Ella Brown. Bobbie met her loving husband Adolphus Martin while she volunteered at the “USO” in Deridder, LA; the very first in America. She was a lifelong resident of DeQuincy and graduate of DeQuincy High School. A faithful member of First Baptist Church of DeQuincy, she loved her church family. Bobbie was a Pink Lady at DeQuincy Memorial Hospital. She was a co-owner and operator of both Brown Sisters Grocery and Northside Drive Inn. Bobbie worked at Franks Brothers, Calcasieu Marine Bank, Dr. Broussard DDS, Dr. Howard Snider DDS, Dr. Charles Mackey DDS, and Greenhill Nursing Home (now Care Center of DQ). She enjoyed playing Bingo with the Nursing Home residents, going to church, and spending quality time with her grandkids. Last but not least, she enjoyed gardening, reading her Bible and daily devotionals.
She is survived by her five grandchildren, D.D. Ferguson (Billy) of DeQuincy, Randy Coplin (Jenny), Angie Robinson (Jamie) of Longville, LA., Shelly Gaspard of DeQuincy, La., and Robert Coplin of Houston, TX.; Bobbie leaves behind 13 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren with one more blessing on the way.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her loving daughter Lou Martin Husers; parents Robert and Ella Brown; sisters Mattie Brown, Stella Myers, Dellie Brown, Daisy Dunham, and Hattie Brown.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church of DeQuincy on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2:00pm with Rev. Gil Arthur officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at First Baptist Church and will resume on Saturday from 10:00am until the service time.
