

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of DeQuincy. He worked in construction and upholstery nearly all his life. The love he had for his family was second to none and because of that love he always made sure, no matter how hard times were, that he provided for his family. He loved gardening; whether it was working in his vegetable garden or landscaping their yard with plants or flowers. He also worked for Christus St. Patrick Hospital Maintenance Department, until becoming disabled. For all who knew him, his presence will be truly missed.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Mary Erwin Shoults of DeQuincy; sons, William Shoults and wife Joan of Gillette, Wy.; David Shoults and wife Karen of Polk, Ark.; Ronald Shoults and wife Becky of Porter, Tx.; Jason Shoults of DeQuincy; daughter, Alicia Anthony and partner Suzanne Hogan of Grand Lake; brother, John Shoults and wife Pat of Westlake; grandchildren, David Shoults II, Rebecca Erin Shoults, Melinda Anthony, Lindee Anthony, Angelica Shoults, Zoe Hogan, Chris Bergeron, Sarah Eldridge, Mike Lance, Chris Lance, and Maegan Lance; great grandchildren, Giovanni Jae and Xavier Castillo, Marissa Anthony, Brayden, Kailie, Briar, Bracee, Abbie, and Andrew Lance, Anna and Logan Eldridge. He is also survived by a very special sister-in-law, Frances Soo and her husband Al of Denham Springs, La. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Jennie Shoults; brother, Jack Shoults and sister, Beth Hunt.
His service will be Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Hixson Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy, La at 10 a.m. Rev. Loyd Parker and Rev. Roland Hebert will officiate. We are thankful for the honored service of these men who are pallbearers; Donald “Cowboy” Gallien, David Landry, Bo Smith, Paul Pinson, Darrell “Booger” Richard, Brian Venable, Robert Pago, and Darrell Granger. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Beech Grove Methodist Cemetery in Anacoco, La. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at the funeral home and will resume again Tuesday at 8 a.m. until time of service. The family wants to send their profound gratitude to Dr. Ron Lewis, Henry’s doctor and friend, Dr. Ben Thompson, and the staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and ICU.
