Hester Arlene "Lena" Parker

DeQuincy - Hester Arlene "Lena" Parker, 55, passed away Monday September 15, 2014 at a local hospital.

Lena was a resident of DeQuincy the majority of her life. She was Pentecostal and attended First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. Lena had a good sense of humor and loved to joke and make people laugh. She was truthful, loving and open, helped people and loved to cook for others. She loved her husband and family, collected bird houses, chimes and loved to fish for perch. Lena loved to be with people and will be greatly missed by many.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, James Parker; son Randel Parker and wife Elizabeth of DeQuincy; daughter Marcy Parker, brothers Delbert Royer, Jr. and David Royer both of DeQuincy; grandchildren, Gabriel Parker and Dawson Parker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert D. and Bonnie (Perkins) Royer.

Her funeral will be at 11:00am Thursday, September 18, 2014 in the First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy with Rev. T.D. Cardwell and Rev. Carlton L. Jackson, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Oretta Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 17, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Hixson Snider Funeral Home and resume on Thursday at 8:00am until service time at the church.
