J.C. Mallet, Sr., 92, a lifelong resident of Starks, was born to his late parents, Medrick and Rosa Mallet on May 9, 1929 in Port Barre, LA. He was one of the city's oldest citizens and was loved by everyone who knew him. He worked at General Box for fourteen years and Equitable Bag Co. for fifteen years where he retired. He stayed by his wife Rosa's side through her sickness. He loved casinos, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his four sons, Joseph C. Mallet, Jr., Tommy Ray Mallet, Jerome Keith Mallet, all of Starks, and Henry James Taylor of Port Barre, LA; four daughters, Judy M. Spears, Rita Renee Mallet, Wanda Faye Mallet of Starks, Cora Lee Simien (Samuel) of Orange, TX; siblings, Medrick Mallet, Jr. of Port Barre, LA. and Rosalee Harrison of Opelousas; along with fourteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
J.C. is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosa Lee Mallet; his parents; three brothers, Elisha Mallet, Spencer Mallet, Sr., Oscar Mallet; two sisters, Irene M. Durio, and Earilee Griffith.
Services will be held at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 11:00am, with Bishop Jacob Thomas officiating. Visitation will begin on Saturday at 9:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Community Cemetery in Starks.
