

John Morris Johnson, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Starks, LA., passed away Jan. 1, 2015. John was 65 years old. John was born in DeQuincy, LA. and raised in Starks. After graduating from Starks High School he was drafted to Vietnam where he proudly served the USA in the Army-Airborne Division.
John was employed at Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station by Day and Zimmerman until 2012. He became a contractor for P & L Integrated Services until the time of his death. John was a member of North Central States Regional Carpenters Union for many years.
While living and working in Nebraska, John met and married Marjean Anne Schwitters. Together they enjoyed many special times with family and friends, fishing, gardening, grilling and bringing Cajun cooking to the Midwest. John also loved to sing country music and Swamp Pop music with all of his fancy Karaoke equipment.
Those left to cherish John's memory are his loving and caring wife, Marjean Anne Schwitters, his daughter, Monica Katherine Johnson of Huntsville, TX., son, Clint Edward Johnson of Port St. Lucie, Fl., granddaughters, Brittany Michelle Roy of Huntsville, TX. and Katlyn Marie Roy of Conroy, TX.
Other survivors include John's sisters, Shirley (Henry) Talbert of Hemphill, TX., Dorothy (Glenn) Lowrimore of Marshall, TX., brother, Don (Danna) Johnson of Starks, LA., mother-in-law, Barbara Schwitters, brothers-in-laws, Timothy Schwitters and Phillip Schwitters, sisters-in-laws, Pam (Kevin) Livesay, Laurie (Steve) Gerber, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Berta Mae Johnson, his brother, Jack Wesley Johnson and his father-in-law, Dale Schwitters.
Pall bearers will be Alton (Tadpole) McLeod, Alfred (Bubby) Menard, Marlon Ray Verdine, Mike Duggan, Reginald Clark, and Kevin Livesay. Honorary pall bearer will be Clint Edward Johnson.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Starks, LA. on Highway 109. Services will be held at the church Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Doyle Cemetery on Doyle Cemetery Rd. in Starks, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that all memorials be given to the John M. Johnson Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo bank.
Friends and family are invited to come celebrate the life, and the love of life, of John Morris Johnson. Services are being handled by Hixson Snider Funeral Home.
