Mary Ann Whitman Cooley

She received her nursing degree in 1975 and worked at Greenhill Nursing Home in DeQuincy and for a local doctor until her retirement. Mary Ann loved her family and was at her happiest when they were all together at her home. She loved sitting at her pond feeding fish and enjoyed watching old westerns and British comedies. She loved animals especially her beloved poodle, Coco. Mary Ann was the family Matriarch and will be missed very much by those who loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Sheldon Cooley; daughters, Shelley Quebodeaux and husband Matt of DeQuincy, LaDonna Cooley and Beth Bonnette of Houston, Texas; sister Bettye Bunch and husband Gene of Houston, Texas; brother, F.B. Whitman of DeQuincy; grandchildren, Jared Bertrand and fiancée Julie Delosey of Sulphur, Luke Bertrand and wife Lacey of DeQuincy and Angela Chambers and husband Jeremy of Simmesport, LA; great-grandchildren Kevin Bertrand, Rebecca Bertrand, Logan Bertrand, Zachery Chambers, Jarrett Chambers, Lawton Bertrand, Landri Bertrand and Maddison Delosey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fren and Ola (Rainwater) Whitman.

A celebration of her home going will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy. Rev. Alvin Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields, LA. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2012 and will continue at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of service at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy.
