

Rev. Burnett started preaching at the age of 16 and evangelizing at 20 years old. He started a Brush Arbor meeting at JP Areno's home on Bayou D’inde and soon after he founded The Pentecostal Gospel Lighthouse in 1953 where he pastored for 18 and a half years. This church is still going strong today. He also pastored Hargrove Pentecostal Church, Lafayette Apostolic Church, and Cameron U.P.C. Many preachers have started under his ministry. God call him to the mission field in Laniadrid, Mexico for over 12 years. He helped establish 4 churches with the help of Bro. Guy and his church Faith Tabernacle all over Mexico, winning souls for the Lord. When he came home God called him to Reeves, La. to build and start a church, Bel Fire Tower Rd. Pentecostal Church. Bro. Burnett also served on the Section 5 Board of the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ as Presbyter. He pastored here for over 20 years. He was still an active preacher until he fell ill to his sickness. He also retired after 40 plus years from Local 106 Welders and Pipefitters union. He leaves a great heritage and we count it an honor to call him Dad, Grandpaw, Uncle, Cousin, Pastor and Friend.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Beulah Areno Burnett; children, Barbara Lambright of DeQuincy, Sybil A Guy and husband Rev. George Guy of DeQuincy, Daniel Burnett and wife Dianna of Lake Charles, Andy Burnett of DeQuincy, Darla Marcantel and husband Mark of DeQuincy and Loren Burnett of DeQuincy; grandchildren, Tyler (Amelia) Burnett, Jordan Hunsicker, George (Pam)Guy, Jr, Richard Guy, Nicholas (Michelle) Guy, Alex Burnett and Kameron Burnett, Matthew Burnett, David (Amanda) Burnett, Daniel (Missy)Burnett, Jr., Christy Deloach, Mistie (Pat)Meaux, Shronda (Kenneth)Miller, Joseph Burnett; 24 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Loren Fred Burnett and Margaret Ware Burnett, 7 sisters and 5 brothers, daughter-in-law Debbie Burnett and two grandchildren Amanda Rose Burnett and Emily Dawn Burnett.
His funeral service will be at 11:00am Saturday, October, 3, 2015 in The First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
