Reginald "Demo" Douglas Silas, Sr, 64, of DeRidder, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at his residence. He was born to his late parents, Johnny Sr. and Juanita Silas on May 12, 1957 in Pineville, LA. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, cooking (especially his cornbread dressing during the holidays), grilling, and loved watching Nascar Racing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and he made sure they had everything they needed, and would even spoil them. He would help people in any way he could, and would give the shirt off his back.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Margarete Silas; three sons, Reginald Silas, Jr. (Alanna) of Richmond, TX, Veris Silas of DeRidder, Dantoin Johnson of Shreveport; one daughter, Ariel Silas of DeRidder; two brothers, Michael Johnson of DeRidder, Anthony Silas (Portia) of Baytown, TX; four sisters, Anne Fisher of DeRidder, Amarilyn Daniels of Sherwood, AR, Bertina Silas of DeRidder, Tammie Silas of Sherwood, AR; four grandchildren, Trayvin Manuel, Reese Silas, Cade Silas, and Anecia Jordan.
Demo is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Sr. and Juanita Silas; and one brother, Johnny Silas, Jr.
A Celebration of Demo's life will be held at Grace Church in DeRidder on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11:00am, with Rev. Robert Mayes officiating. Visitation will be on Friday at the church, beginning at 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder.
