I am so sorry that I just saw this today. I am not on Facebook a lot and we've been busy with a wedding. 

Arlene will be missed greatly. Having her in charge of the family genealogy has been a very good thing and I considered her my friend as well as cousin. I hate how isolating things have been over the past year. 

You will be in our prayers. 

I worked with Arlene with for many years and she was one of the nicest people that I have known.  I'll miss her coming in to see us and caching up on what's been happening.  

I’m not sure how to say goodbye and I’m not sure if I’ve realized I need to yet. 
I am sure that I will always remember climbing the stairs after school and seeing you there. I’ll remember playing tic tac toe when I was little and watching movies as I grew up. I’ll remember coming up the stairs on birthdays and seeing you cooking in the kitchen. I’ll remember your Mexican food and the jars of candies and cookies. I’ll remember climbing those stairs for holidays and seeing you setting out presents or giving us a thimble to hide in the living room.
I know it’ll hit me when I climb the stairs again.
I’m going to miss you Grandma.


Arlene Batchelor Nichols:  I will never forget the day I went to the mailbox to get the mail and took it to the porch where Dad and all of us were sitting.  That letter had been stamped several times by the post office as it had followed the moves we had made. I read the name out loud before handing it to him and Dad got all excited and told us it was his brother, Orlin's daughter.  He was so excited and it was an invitation to her graduation.  Dad had no money,  so he could not go but he did send her a little money, maybe $5.  I can't remember the amount, but it wasn't much because he didn't have much.   From that time on, we knew about Arlene and she proceeded with the help of Richard to find us.  What a blessing she has been to us.  We are so grateful that she looked us up.  We love and will miss Arlene.  Praying for the family.

I remember you teaching me how to sew. The first thing I sewed with you was a pillowcase I still have that we were going to embroidery on it. Anytime I came over you were always more than willing to talk about sewing and crafts. That and the yearly craft show. I'll miss getting to do that with you. 


My condolences to the Nichols family on your loss. I was fortunate to get to know Arlene as a co-worker for 10 years, she was an absolute joy to work with and was always helpful. I know she had a great devotion to her faith and family, and was a very talented person.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but I know her memory will live on.

You were my friend, my embroidery buddy, and the person I called whenever I had a problem.

We spent hours talking about kids, embroidery, and everything else.  We shopped for embroidery designs together, even when we had to do it over the phone.

My kids will never forget all the time they spent with you, going to the zoo,  huckleberry railroad,  the air zoo, doing apple cider, playing with dry ice, and even spending time with you reading a book and watching movies (for the longest time Samantha thought grandma's house meant popcorn). 

You were the strongest woman I know.  I'm so blessed to have gotten to spend so much time with you.  I miss you so much.

Heaven got another very special angel! I'm so thankful Arlene and family got to come to Texas in 2019. She was so special to me. I feel blessed to have had her as a friend , as well as a great sister-in-law.  She was loving, caring, strong and such a fighter. Going to miss her and our phone visits. I'm praying for peace and strength for Richard and all family. Love you guys,  Pat

I had go over 1000 miles to find you, broke a few girls hearts in the mean time. but you be came the love of my life. We shared lot of good times. Someday we will share forever together right now I miss her Rich


When I was little, there was no person more caring, loving, and attentive than my grandma was. She was always there for me as a kid, and I remember grandma's house being my favorite place to go throughout growing up. Now that she has passed, I am always reminded of the care and love that she gave me as a child, and pray that the Lord gives her that same care, love, and attention in Heaven now that she has come home. 

God called you home way to soon.  I am so thankful for the life you gave me and the example that you set.  You taught me may things,  over the years.  The most important how to be a great mother and wife.  Now that I can't talk to you on the phone I will be talking to you in prayer.  You fought so hard right to the end.  You are the strongest woman I know.  I love you mom.

So many, birthday parties, going to the zoo, camping, trips to Texas, cookies after school, Grandma Mondays. Miss you  Barb

Our family was so blessed to have Arlene and Richard look us up in TN to get acquainted with my dad (her Uncle Floyd Batchelor), as she and her family had moved away many years ago. For many years now on the 4th of July our families have been able to visit and share good times and made many wonderful memories. She will be greatly missed! 🥰
