Andy was born on April 17, 1991 in Lansing, MI to Michael and Mary Jo Whitman. He graduated from DeWitt High School in 2009 where he excelled in both hockey and lacrosse. He later went on to study at Lansing Community College where he continued his successful hockey career, and then later received a degree in advertising from Michigan State University. Professionally, Andy applied his education and natural gifts and creativity to pursue a number of business ventures, most notably starting his own videography and production company, Spartan Virtual.
Andy loved spending time at the family cottage at Higgins Lake where he enjoyed tinkering with the boats and sea-doos. He loved playing, watching, and talking about hockey with anyone that shared his passion for it. His hobbies included extreme sports like paintball, MMA, and snowboarding, but skateboarding was his passion. He spent hours studying, practicing, and perfecting the next trick. Through skating he met many of his closest friends. Later in his life the skate park was a sanctuary that provided great solace and peace to him. Andy had a natural gift to find the silly side of life and could always bring laughter to those around him. To all who knew him, Andy will be remembered as a kind soul, free spirit, and the most loyal of friends.
Andy is survived by his father, Michael, his mother, Mary Jo, his brother, Joshua (J.T.) (Jessica and Joshua Michael) and his sister, Alexandra (Alex). A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Gorseline Runciman Funeral Home in DeWitt, MI. The visitation is open to any and all who want the opportunity to say goodbye to Andy.
