Arlene Marie Runkel Snoeyink

SNOEYINK - Arlene Marie, age 86, of DeWitt, Michigan, passed away at home on November 10, 2017 with her family at her side. She was born October 10, 1931 in Hopkins, Michigan to Walter and Elsie (Thede) Runkel.

On June 18, 1955 she married the man who became her “happily ever after”-- Sherwin (Pete) Snoeyink. Arlene and Pete were blessed with 62 wonderful years together. She was a nurse at Sparrow Hospital for many years and loved square dancing, sewing, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a loving and devoted mother with a gentle kindness and a smile that would make your heart melt. She was good at many things but she was best at being a wife and mother.

Surviving are her husband, Sherwin; her sons, Randall (Janet), David (Susan), Dan (Sara); and her daughter, Diane (Mark). She was a loving grandmother to Michael (Gina), Zachary (Samantha), Tyler (Sonja), Alexandra, Erika, Nathan and Nicholas, and great-grandmother to Aiden and Evan. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret (DeVries) and her brother, Robert.

Visitation will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, DeWitt on Nov. 15 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services in celebration of her life will be held at Redeemer United Methodist Church, DeWitt on Nov. 16 at 11:00 am. The family would like everyone to join them for a luncheon in the church reception room immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice in her memory.
