Christopher August Perry, 69, of DeWitt, Michigan, passed away on September 1, 2022 after a short battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Chris was born on November 13, 1952 to William and Margaret (Benson) Perry in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He received his masters degree at Michigan State University in Educational Administration. He worked as a special education teacher and elementary principal until he retired in 2015. Even in retirement he continued to work three jobs.
Chris leaves behind the love of his life and best friend, Patty. She took his breath away from moment one and he never looked back. He will be lovingly remembered by his four children Adam and Sarah and their children Thomas and Everett, Aaron and Becca and their children Brooks and June, Christopher and Chloe, and Alana and Deon and their children Londyn and August. Also surviving him is his mother-in-law Marlene King, his twin brother Michael (Sheryl), his sister Diane (Will), and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was a man of many catch phrases including but not limited to “PATTY", "ya know", "does that make sense", "dear", "why do I even bother", "I should have just stayed home”, "I can think whatever I want", "life is good" followed by a lot of sighs. He was a strong, enthusiastic, and compassionate person who loved Jesus, his family, friends, doing laundry, dogs, and sweets.
When he wasn’t working Chris loved spending time with his wife and family, watching the Tigers and Lions, vacationing on Beaver Island, and whatever other activities Patty would convince him he needed to do.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Tom King, sister Melissa Keniston, and grandson Bo Aaron Bragdon.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Bath Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel from 5:00-8:00 pm Tuesday and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
