Dan was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. He graduated from Mason High School in 1957. After serving in the United States Air Force, he was then employed by IBM, where he worked for forty-two years before retiring in 2001.
He met the love of his life, Mary Joann McCulloch, in the fall of 1960 and they married in the summer of 1962. They enjoyed 63 years together; raising nine children, welcoming 20 grandchildren, and delighting in 11 great-grandchildren.
He was a devoted father who lived his life rooted in faith, showing his family the love of God not only through words, but through his daily actions. He generously gave his time and talents to the church, serving quietly and faithfully, and teaching by example what it meant to live a life of purpose. He believed deeply that every baby was a blessing from God, a belief that shaped his reverence for family and life itself. He also found great joy in traveling and being outdoors, appreciating the beauty of God’s creation wherever he went. His smile - warm, radiant, and unmistakable - had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Joann (McCulloch) Janetzke; his children: Mark (Lynell) Janetzke, Pamela (Paul) Richards, Amy McDaniels, Sarah (Nathan) Wagner, Stephen (Irene) Janetzke, Patricia (Loren) Conlin, Elizabeth Janetzke, Katherine (Michael) VanVleet, and Andrew (Jamie Ives) Janetzke; his grandchildren: Brooke Janetzke, Rebekah (Kevin) VanDerhoof, Laura (Alex) Damon, John and Eryn Richards, Eric (Kaelyn) McDaniels, Anna Bell, Daniel (Beth) Wagner, Ian and Finn Janetzke, Avery Conlin, Wenda, Mark, Grace, Jill, and Ryan Dexter, Lilliana and Jacob VanVleet, Madelyne and Arnold Hobart; his great-grandchildren: Eldon, Ulrik, Anastasia, Gregor, and Ewan VanDerhoof, Bruce, Sidney, Miles, Eugene, and Keith Damon, and Carter Bell; his siblings: Donna Mae (Pete) Solid and Timothy (Mary) Janetzke.
