

He was born on February 26th, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan to Donald A and Virginia Mae (Noteware) Earl. He graduated from Pershing High School in 1960. After serving his country in the United States Army, he married Irene McMahon on January 20th, 1967. He is a graduate of Wayne State University’s School of Mortuary Science and worked at funeral homes in Northville and Manistique before purchasing Bliss Funeral Home in Cedar Springs, Michigan which he owned and operated for twenty years. He was an active member of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association. He served his community as head of the planning commission for many years and was involved with the Lion’s Club. He took great joy in serving in the Knights of Columbus and was a fourth-degree knight. After he sold the funeral home in Cedar Springs, he and Irene moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he enjoyed cowboy shooting and reenactment and was an early member of the Single Action Shooting Society.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy (Jason) Brown of Vero Beach, Florida; and son, Daniel (Crystal) Earl of DeWitt, Michigan; his beloved grandchildren, Aidan and Ainsley Brown and Donovan, Elliott, Roswell, Avery, Savannah, and Maeve Earl; his brother, Harley (Barb) Earl; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene (McMahon) Earl; and granddaughter, Evelyn Earl.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel, 205 E Washington St., DeWitt, MI 48820. A funeral service for David will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, his children request that donations be made to the VNA and Hospice Foundation and Hospice House of Vero Beach, Florida who so capably and compassionately cared for Dad during his final hours. Donations can be made at foundation.vnatc.com
