He married the love of his life Gisela in 1989 and accepted her daughters Evelyn (Terry) Townsend, Nancy Matelske, Sandy Matelske and Jo Ann (Bill) Hodges as part of his new family. Grandchildren Ashley, Shawn, Courtney and Justin Matelske, Jessica (JT) Whitman, Erika Hodges, Amber & Jeremy Townsend. And Great Grandsons Joshua Whitman and Theodore Townsend.
Don served in the United States Army. He worked at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens for 30 plus years.
Don was a kind man with a sense of humor. He cared for his family well, made strangers feel like friends and spoiled his dogs. His hobbies included golf and bowling with friends. He had a strategy for scratch offs and enjoyed many gambling trips with wife, Gisela.
The family would appreciate donations to Hospice of Lansing or Capital Area Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
