

Evelyn Louise Ostrom, age 76, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away on October 23, 2023, in Lansing. She was born on November 28, 1946, in Lansing, Michigan, to the late Ernest Keith Holley and Olive Evelyn Voorheis.
Evelyn was a generous and loving individual who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She dedicated 24 years of her life to Michigan Bell/Ameritech, retiring in 2003. Evelyn was a valued member of her community, actively involved in various activities. She was an avid movie watcher, a dedicated member of the PTA, and served as a team "mom" for her children's athletics. Her upbringing on a farm in DeWitt shaped her strong work ethic, and she carried those values throughout her adult life in Lansing.
Evelyn is survived by her beloved spouse, Barry Dennis Ostrom, and her cherished children, Barry Ostrom II, Russell Ostrom, and Holly (Brad) Purves. She was a loving sister to Carolyn Sue Fowler and sister-in-laws Ruth (Keith) Holley and Joan (Joseph) Holley. Evelyn also leaves behind her adored grandchildren, JL (Kara) Purves, McKenna Purves, Russell Ostrom Jr., and Barry Ostrom III, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Keith Holley and Olive Evelyn Voorheis, her brothers Keith Lee Holley, Joseph Neil Holley, and Russell Ernest Holley, and her brother-in-law Floyd Fowler.
Evelyn graduated from St. John's High School as a proud member of the Class of 1964. She found solace and community at Valley Farms Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she met and married Barry. Faith Church, is where she worshipped before her passing.
Visitation at Gorsline Runciman DeWitt Chapel, 205 E. Washington St., Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Funeral service at Faith Wesleyan Church, 2300 Lake Lansing Rd., Lansing, Monday at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in Evelyn's memory.
Evelyn Louise Ostrom will be remembered for her selflessness, warmth, and love for her family and community. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
