Gisela I. Berryhill, 86, passed away on October 30, 2024, in DeWitt, Michigan. Born in Berlin, Germany on May 17, 1938, Gisela dedicated many years to the workforce, including 11 years as a waitress at Frontier Bar and a long tenure at General Motors.
She loved cooking, gardening, animals, the Michigan State Spartans and Detroit Tigers. Gisela was a hard and dedicated worker. She cherished her family deeply, taking great care of her husband, Donald Berryhill, who preceded her in death, along with her parents, Hildegard and Otto Wilke.
Gisela's competitive spirit shone brightly on the bowling lanes. She liked playing cards and going to the casino with friends and family. Her social nature was a gift to all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters Evelyn (Terry) Townsend, Nancy Matelske, Sandra Matelske, and Jo Ann (Bill) Hodges; grandchildren Ashley, Shawn, Courtney, and Justin Matelske, Jessica (JT) Whitman, Erika Hodges, Amber, and Jeremy Townsend; and great-grandsons Joshua Whitman and Theodore Townsend.
A graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 12 noon.
The graveside at Chapel Hill will be located towards the back of the cemetery to the left over a small bridge. It will be located close to the Royal Scot golf course.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society or the Dementia Society in Gisela’s memory, honoring her love for animals and supporting dementia research.
