Herman Heiden was born in Shepherd, MI to Lewis and Zina Heiden on August 25, 1924. He died May 15, 2011 at the age of 86 years old. He was a World War II veteran and served his country in Burma and India. He was a boiler maker and plumber/pipefitter for 43 years and retired from Local Plumbers and Pipefitters 333 in 1986. He was predeceased in death by his grandparents; parents; and two sisters. He loved gardening, playing cards and going to auctions. He and his surviving wife, Lydia, were married 63 years on May 1, 2011. They spent winters in both Tucson, AZ and Brooksville, FL after retiring. He is survived by his three children, Jerry (Midge) Heiden, Rosemary (Irv) Pasch and Yvonne Heiden; 2 brothers, Ben (Colleen) Heiden, Ed (Delores) Heiden; 3 sisters, Betty Hubble, Virginia (Orvest) Davis, Irene (Ray) Watson; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Central Free Methodist Church, 828 N. Washington Avenue, Lansing, MI with Rev. Bruce Cromwell officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 W. Washington, DeWitt.
