At the age of 51, Jim passed away on March 6, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family and close friends. On December 15, 2008 Jim was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer (GBM). He graduated from DeWitt high school in June of 1977 and lived most of his life in the DeWitt area. He worked for Cintas Uniform as a driver for 30 years plus one day, until his illness forced him to leave. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 580 and served as Union Steward for 20 years. Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents; and in July, 2009 he lost his mother Patricia, whom he adored. He is survived by his father, Roland Lipps; one son, James Lipps, Jr. and fiancé Charlyn; grandson Christian; sisters Peggy (David) Haviland, Debra (John) Jolley, Jean Huguelet; one brother Gary (Karen) Lipps; many nieces, nephews and cousins; aunt Joyce Ladd; uncles Richard (Barb) Ballard, and Don Ballard. He also leaves behind friends Frank Caisar, Dan Smith and special long time friend for 50 years, Wes Sevenski. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI, with Pastor Chris McNeilly officiating. The family will receive friends at the DeWitt chapel on Thursday, March 11, from 5-8 p.m. and Friday, March 12, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to Hospice of Clinton County, P.O.
