James “Jim” Ray Willits, 85, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 in Lansing, MI. He was born January 11, 1931 in Lansing to Vernon and Mary (Esch) Willits. He spent much of his life in the DeWitt area. Jim was a proud Marine veteran who worked as a millwright for Oldsmobile for 40 years. He was a good father, an animal lover, and had a great sense of humor. He loved history - he collected antique tools and was known as the family historian. Jim loved sports, although his love for MSU sports depended on the season they were having.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Willits, his brother, Leland Rue Willits, and his parents. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Patricia (Myers) Willits; his children, Vicky Lynn Willits and Warren R. (Bonnie) Willits; his grandchildren, Derrick James (Corinn) and Meagan Elizabeth Willits; his brothers, Charles and George Willits; his sisters, Viola Byington and Virginia Pettinger; and his beloved dog, Tyler.
Memorial Service will be held June 4, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Cooley Gardens, Lansing, MI.
For those desiring, contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to a charity of their choice.
