Joan was born to Ralph and Alice Dainko in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She graduated St George High School and went on to enlist in the United States Navy in August of 1956, where she honorably served for 2 years. In 1960 she married the love of her life, Roger Overway.
Joan worked for the State of Michigan department of agriculture in the personnel division for 29 years, but if you had the pleasure of knowing Joan you may have met her through her many volunteer positions at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, whether it was her leadership in food for the poor, commentating, singing in the choir, or being the photographer for many events and activities. Joan spent many hours helping people in faith and loved being in that community there at St. Jude’s. If Joan wasn’t at work or at her church, you would most likely find her out on a golf course working on getting another hole in 1 on top of the 5 she’s gotten! Joan loved bowling, traveling, reading, gardening, and a love for all animals. On top of all that she did she was also proud of being a member of the JC Auxiliary, Harness Horse Racing, and many golf and bowling leagues. Joan loved classical music and had a love for the arts, where she went to many Wharton Center features.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Alice Dainko; Sisters, Judy Dainko and Marion Chamberlain; and her husband, Roger Overway.
Joan is survived by her son, Gregory (Cathy Ovenhouse) Overway; daughter, Mary (Jeff) Stuner; niece, Tammy Matz; nephew, Robert Kollman; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joan loved her family and friends to the fullest and will greatly be missed by all.
