John R. "Bob" Moody

John Robert “Bob” Moody passed away August 3, 2014 surrounded by his family after fighting a short courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 12, 1939 in Lansing, MI to Harold and Mary (Stanley) Moody. Bob retired from Meijer in 2002. He, being a devout Catholic, worked endlessly and proudly for his church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a charter member of the Msgr. Stotenbur Council #7237. Then, from 2000 – 2008 he served on the state board of the Knights of Columbus serving as the State Deputy of Michigan from 2008-2010. He adored his grandchildren and you could always count on seeing “papa” at whatever sporting event was going on near or far! Everyone knew “Grandpa Moody”. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin Michael; sisters, Theola Isanhart, Jean Kalka; and brother, Richard. Bob was married to the love of his life Judy (Duncan) for 54 years. She survives him as well as his sons, John (Shelly), and Thomas; He is also survived by his “favorite granddaughter” Betsy; grandsons, John-Michael, Nicholas, Mathew; brothers, Harold and James; and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held 3:00 PM Thursday at Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N. Bridge Street, DeWitt, MI 48820. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM. The family will also receive friends at the church Thursday from 2-3 PM .
