DeWitt, MI formerly of Etna, PA
Born February 4, 1927 in Pittsburgh, PA to James and Ida (Miller) Wernert, went to be with his Lord on November 26, 2011, at the age of 84. John was preceded in death by his wife Theresa Vanover Wernert in 1993. He is survived by son, Alan (Judy) Wernert, and grandchildren, Alex and Nathan Wernert. John was proud to serve his country in the US Army during WWII. He was a long time member of the First Congregational Church of Etna, PA. Steam engines and all aspects of the railroad gave him much joy. He was an avid polka dancer and enjoyed spending time in nature. There will be no services as this time. Those desiring may make contributions to the Pine Creek Land Conservation Trust, at P.O. Box 259, Ingomar, PA 15127-0259 in memory of John. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, DeWitt Chapel.
