Kelly Brandon was born 22 May 1961. He passed 15 October 2023. Kelly was the sixth child of Rosemary and Keith Brandon, all born over a span of ten years. He grew up in family homes located on streets with lovely names: Cherry Street and Primrose Lane. He was just eleven months younger than his closest brother, Joe, so they were together all the time, and many people assumed they were twins. They were rough and tumble, wrestling through the house like a rolling ball of arms and legs. Kelly attended DeWitt Schools.
He worked at his father's tool and die shop initially, then eventually worked for Sparrow Hospital, spending 27 years there. His most recent position was as a surgical technician, though he made the same heroic effort as so many healthcare workers during the pandemic, moving into new responsibilities, and managing the increased stress.
Kelly was married to Evelyn (Jackson) and they had two sons together: Kalin and Kevon Brandon. Kelly was most proud of his sons, each active military in the United States Air Force. Kelly enjoyed playing guitar and writing lyrics. He was a lifelong learner, and in the years before the internet, he could be found reading encyclopedias during his leisure time. He enjoyed a game of softball or bowling. He appreciated time away at the cabin at Big Pine Island Lake and the fishing he did there.
Kelly is survived by relatives: sons, Kalin (Perlena) and Kevon Brandon; three granddaughters, Ada, Naomi, and Grace; as well as his former wife, Evelyn. He is also survived by his father and stepmother, Keith and Ethel Brandon; and stepbrother, Travis (Angelie) Snow; as well as stepfather, Richard Andersen and stepsister, June (Mike) Swiger. Surviving siblings are Lou Brandon, Jenni (Steve) Fernand, Nancy Brandon, and special brother, Joe Brandon. Kelly has numerous nieces and nephews, with several relatives preceding him in death: nephew, Doug Ruble Jr.; brother-in-law, Doug Ruble Sr.; stepsister, Pam Montaulbant; sister, Margie Bobier; and loving mother, Rosemary Andersen.
Service Monday, October 30, at 4:00 p.m. at Grand Ledge Baptist Church, 1120 Willow Hwy., Grand Ledge, MI.
