Happy Trails Larry
Until we meet again.

I had the great fortune to have Larry teach me basketball in the elementary program in Wyoming when he was on the Wyoming Park varsity.  I followed him as he moved along in his career at East Kentwood and Mason and was saddened to hear of his passing.  My thoughts and prayers go out to Doug and his extended family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Larry through my association with Kelly on the Michigan Class Investment Board.  From the first time I met Larry I was always impressed by his passion for education.  He always had very interesting stories about his various travels.  He would definitely rank right up there with the Most Interesting Man in the World conversations. 

Regrettably I could not attend his services, but I wanted Kelly and the rest of his family to know he was truly a unique individual whose passing was too soon as there many stories untold and adventures still to come.  

Having recently lost my Father I know the pain that comes with losing a loved one, but the stories and memories will carry you through.  While the pain dulls over time, the incredible stories and memories of better times get better over time like a fine wine.

I grew up with Larry. Lived on Collingwood across 36th street. Went to elementary, middle, and high school with him. He was a very special person. Tell his mother hello.

Kathy, Steve and I were saddened to hear of Larry's passing, having just had breakfast with him last month.  We've kept in regular touch since the high school days at East Kentwood, and I've admired his professional development in all areas of academia. Always a kind word from this gentle man.

I've known Larry since he started at CMU.  He always had a kind word and caring smile for everyone.  I'm so very sorry for your loss.  He will be missed.

Mr. Corbett was my Physics teacher at EK and one of my supervisors when I was a Science Assistant my senior year. He always treated me with great respect and humor, and to this day, I can remember the lovely card and note he gave me when I graduated. I wish his family peace and prayers at this difficult time.

Sending thoughts of peace to Larry's family. I was an EK teacher who worked with Larry one year before he left. I enjoyed our association and liked how he worked with staff and kids.

May God Bless Larry and all of you in his family. Kelly, we send our love from Colorado, unable to attend. Jonathan always said how much he admired Larry as a Superintendent. He was innovative and wanted districts to always do better. Larry hired me and I hope I made him proud. He will be greatly missed.

Larry always entered a room with a smile and saying, "I have never been better!" I cannot imagine the office without him and his humor.  He was a wonderful boss and co worker.  Words cannot express how much I will miss him.  My thoughts are with his wife and family.
