

Larry David Oliver passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021. He was born in Carleton, Michigan in 1937 to Leslie and Mary Oliver. He attended high school in Brighton, MI and then he joined the Marine Corps. He attended Michigan State University and was married to Sue Anne Carpenter in June 1961. He graduated from MSU in 1962, and then started his career at the Kalamazoo Gazette. In 1967 the couple moved to Lansing, where Larry worked for the Lansing State Journal for over 30 years. Larry was a member of the Glen Erin bagpipe band for several years and enjoyed playing the base drum in many parades and gatherings. He was a member of DeWitt Redeemer United Methodist Church for 40+ years.
Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue Anne (Carpenter) Oliver, his 3 children, Sheryl (Mike) Crawford, Todd (Jimmie) Oliver, and Melissa (David) Vernier, 4 grandchildren Kendra, Michael, Stuart and Jenna, and 1 great-granddaughter Kenshya. He was preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Mary (McGaw) Oliver and his brother Justin (Sally) Oliver.
A memorial service will be held at Gorsline Runciman in DeWitt, MI on Saturday November 13th at 2pm.
Visitation to immediately follow memorial service, refreshments will be served.
