Nora is preceded in her death by her parents, her husband Alex Shapiro, her wonderful friend Jerry and her loving son Charles Andrew Hendricks. Nora is survived by her children Diane (Scott) Hendricks, Marianne (Greg) George, Joanne (Herb) Hendricks, seven grandchildren, Molly, Ariel, Taylor, Lucas, Lilly, Charles and Grace, and three great-grandchildren, her adoring Brothers Fredrick (Noreen), and Robert (Fran) and many nieces and nephews. She had a close bond with her niece Carol. She will forever be remembered by many friends and family members.
Nora was a class act and always the life of the party. She loved being with family and friends. She lived life to the fullest and knew how to paint the town red. One of Nora’s favorite past times was horse racing; many of her friends will remember taking pictures in the winner’s circle. She spent many years of her life in sunny Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She knew all of the best tiki bars and welcomed company with open arms. She loved her CC Manhattans, nicotine lozenges, QVC, HSN and Lifetime Movie Network. She was always there to give the best advice, help with outfit selections and knew the best shades of lipstick. She’d tell you like it is and had the best one liners. She was a wonderful cook and had a special talent in the kitchen. She enjoyed clothes shopping, especially online. The last few years were very hard on her, but she never complained. She was able to spend quality time with her grandchildren: watching their basketball games, going to the cottage, attending Lilly’s white coat ceremony, and many more family celebrations. She loved to see and be seen and enjoyed sitting at Ariel’s bar for happy hour. She will be greatly missed and remembered forever.
A private funeral service will be held and Nora will be laid to rest next to her husband in Livonia. A celebration of life will be held in the future.
