Sharon Nolen, 65, had her last curtain call on March 24, 2016, after a two-year fight with cancer. She was born November 27, 1950, in Lansing, MI. Sharon taught Theater and English at Williamston High School for 41 years, while raising six children with her husband, Michael, of 44 years. Her impact at Williamston High School is seen in the hundreds of students who performed, sought her advice, or pursued a goal because of her encouragement. Sharon was known by her theater students as “Drama Mama” because of the love and compassion she had for all her students. Although her passion was teaching, she was also an avid reader and loved being in the stands at her children’s sporting events, musical concerts, and MSU band performances over the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Donefred and MaryLee, and her sister, Robin. She is survived by her husband, Michael; children Adam (Katie) Nolen, Michelle (Thomas) Cousineau, Sarah (Terrence) Franklin, Jeffrey (Anna) Nolen, Brooke Nolen, and Austin Nolen; sisters Bethann (Dennis) Leonard and Gail (Ken) Greene-Robinson. She was also a grandmother to 9 grandchildren: Liliana, Lucas, Liam, Caleb, Raegan, Baya, Drew, Annie, and Charlotte.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 29, from 4pm-7pm at Williamston High School in the McGoff Center for Performing Arts. Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Michigan Cancer Center on Sharon’s behalf.
