Concetta Tripode

Concetta Sotile Tripode, “Maw Maw Connie,” was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Connie, age 90, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2011, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. She was born in Alexandria, a longtime resident of Donaldsonville and graduate of Ascension Catholic High School. Connie was a member of Ascension Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Camille Tripode Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, N.J. and wife Birdie Mullen Tripode, Frank and wife Linda deBessonet Tripode, Camille Jr. and Darcy Koonce Tripode, and David and Gina Blanchard Tripode; daughters, Virginia Tripode and husband Lester Rome Jr., and Marilyn Tripode Bordelon; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; two sisters, Bena Sotile and husband Joe Matassa Jr., and Rose Marie Sotile Shepherd; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Tripode Sotile and Angelina Tripode Nizzo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Frank Sr. and Rosa Mistretta Sotile; brothers, Vincent Sotile Sr. and Frank Sotile Jr.; sister, Laura Sotile; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Natole and Virginia Tripode; brothers-in-law, Ray Sheppard, William Giardina and Thomas Nizzo Sr.; sisters-in-law, Katherine Eassa Sotile and Tina Tripode Giardina. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brian Tripode, Kevin Tripode, Ryan Tripode, Brandon Bordelon, Preston Bordelon and Taylor Tripode. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, Weekly Rosary Prayer Group, Catholic Daughters, The Children of Mary and American Legion Auxiliary. She was an adoration adorer at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staffs of D’Ville House, Prevost Memorial Hospital Emergency, Baton Rouge General Medical Center Emergency Room and ICU, and caregiver, Gail Simon. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville, on Thursday, May 26, from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Phil Spano, celebrant. Entombment in church mausoleum.
