

Cyrille Michel Waguespack, Sr., 95, a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather and a lifelong resident of St. James, died on Monday, October 13, 2014 at his home. He was one of the founding members of St. James Sugar Co-Op. He served on the Board for First American Bank and Trust and on the St. James Parish School Board. Cyrille was a lifelong sugar cane farmer and the very last days wanted to be updated on the status of this year’s cane crop. Cyrille is survived by seven children, Jeanette Labat, Ronald and wife Joan, Cyril Jr. and wife Shelley, Jackie Gravois and husband Dewey, Phayne Braud and husband Blanchard, Charles and wife Lisa, and Carl and wife Cheryl; 22 grandchildren, Janel Constant, Donald Labat, Richard Labat, Jr., Chris Labat, Michael Labat, Jill Legendre, Mary Kay Gogreve, Sidney Waguespack, Angie Dunn, David Waguespack, Scott Waguespack, Gregg Gravois, Gaynell Lemoine, Genna Jaramillo, Chet Braud, Tishe Bourgeois, Sara Borne, Dana Pinkstaff, Ross Waguespack, Brandy Bertus, Crystal Landry, and Ashley Waguespack; three stepgrandsons, Christopher Caillouet, Seth Daigle, and Michael Medine; one step granddaughter, Nobie Landry; 43 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and one sister, Alice Waguespack Tabor.
Preceded in death by his wives, Uranie Bye and Mabel Zeringue; mother, Marie Alice Zeringue; father, Joseph Lovencie Waguespack; three sisters, Marie Hymel, Elvidge Troxclair, and Agnes Waguespack; three brothers, Sylvester Waguespack, Sr., Antoine Waguespack, and Marian Waguespack; and son-in-law, Richard Labat, Sr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in St. James. Interment to follow at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Mausoleum in Donaldsonville. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville.
