
Emile John Spano, 68, a native and resident of Donaldsonville, LA, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016. Emile was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Emile retired from the Ascension Parish Assessor’s office after 23 years of service, while in the Assessor’s office he held the position of Chief Deputy Assessor and Assessor. At the time of his death, Emile was serving as District 5 Councilman for the city of Donaldsonville. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and an usher at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Denoux Spano; one son, Kiley J. Spano and wife, Celeste; two daughters, Trish Spano Castrogovannie and husband, Blaine and Beth Spano Anthens and husband, Shane; one sister, Carmen Spano Webre and husband, Ulric; seven grandchildren, Michayla Elizabeth and Luke Michael Spano, Cole Bruno and Camryn Blayne Castrogovannie, Christopher Alexandre, Caden Emile, and Emmalyn Marybeth Anthens. Preceded in death by his parents, Bruno John Spano and Antonina “Lena” Mistretta Spano. Pallbearers will be: Luke Spano, Mike Spano, Lannie Denoux, Jr., Camille Poirrier, Achille Poirrier, and Cliff Webre.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Donaldsonville City Council Members, Mayor Leroy Sullivan, and city attorney, Charles “Chuck” Long. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Help Restore the Convent c/o Ascension Catholic Diocesan Regional School 311 St. Vincent St. Donaldsonville, LA 70346.
Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Donaldsonville on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 6pm to 9 pm and on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 8am until 10:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church co-celebrated by Rev. Phil Spano and Rev. Paul Yi at 11:00 am.
