

Fred Joseph Fernandez, Jr., 80, died on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native and resident of Brusly St. He was a retired Sugar Cane Farmer and served in the U.S. Army National Guard of Louisiana. Fred enjoyed being surrounded by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 60years, Winnie Blanchard Fernandez; five daughters, Darlene Fernandez Landry, Rebecca Fernandez Capone, Christine Fernandez Nickell, Celeste Fernandez Mabile, and Paula Fernandez Mohler; four sons, Carl James Fernandez, Brian Joseph Fernandez, Jerome Paul Fernandez, and Chad Michael Fernandez; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Ruby Fernandez Bellina, Valerie Fernandez Guillot, and Mona Fernandez George.
Preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Denise Charlet Fernandez; brother Hayward Joseph Fernandez; sister, Barbara Fernandez Falcon, Vincent Fernandez; and nephew, Sam Bellina, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. – 9: 30 p.m. at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville and will resume on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Brusly St. Martin Chapel from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Conducted by Fr. Andrew Merrick. Interment to follow in church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Landry III, Thomas Nickell, Jr., Jude Fernandez, Matt Coffee, Landon Mohler, Joseph Mabile, and Cameron Capone. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jordan Landry.
Family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s Carpenter House, Dr. Glen Schwartzberg, Margie “Cookie” Caldwell, Sandra Herbert, and Melinda Cooks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Carpenter House, American Heart Association, and American Diabetes Association.
