

Gilbert Paul Blanchard, 80, a native of Valenzuela and resident of Belle Rose, passed away on May 16, 2016. He was survived by his wife, Arbadella Chiasson Blanchard; one daughter, Patty Andermann and husband, Larry; three sons, Terry Blanchard and wife, Cheryl, Kevin Blanchard, Scotty Blanchard and wife, Michele; one sister, Maryland Sanchez Coupel; one brother, James Sanchez; nine grandchildren; Joshua, Casie, Ashley, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Bryce, Zane, Maddex, and Vaughn. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bridget Landry and Lawless Blanchard Sr.; one brother, Lawless Blanchard Jr., and one sister, Annamae Hebert.Gilbert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a retired Sugar Cane Farmer and also served in the Navy where he fought in the Korean War aboard the USS Boxer. He had an unconditional love for animals, gardening, and dancing. The family would like to thank Veronica Cassard for all her help and taking good care of Gilbert. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. –Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jules Catholic Church in Belle Rose with Rev. Andrew Merrick.
