He was 90, a native and resident of Donaldsonville, and was the only child of his parents, the late Josie Glorioso Landry and Harry “Smitty” Landry Sr. He earned his nickname in childhood as a fan of Western film star Alfred “Lash” LaRue.
Harry was a 1953 graduate of Catholic High School (now Ascension Catholic Diocesan Regional School), and was an outstanding football player there, in the position of halfback.
From his youth onward, he greatly enjoyed fishing and especially hunting, and was a past member of several area hunting clubs, often cooking large meals of fresh seafood or wild game.
Harry retired as a journeyman wireman electrician with I.B.E.W. Local #995 of Baton Rouge (celebrating his 50 years of membership in 2019), and he was also a member of Carpenters District Council of New Orleans.
He was an Entered Apprentice Degree Mason with Ascension Lodge #251 F & AM of Donaldsonville.
Harry was married for 18 years to the late Janice Rome Landry.
(Janice was the daughter of the late Nellie Martinez Rome and Allen Rome Sr., and she was the sister of the late Allen Rome Jr., Barbara Rome Theriot, and Gerald Rome.)
Harry and Janice were the parents of two sons: the late Kirk Paul Landry, and Brett Michael Landry, who survives.
