Red was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and neighbor. He was an avid LSU fan and a lifelong golfer. Red worked as an auto parts salesman for fifty plus years in Ascension parish where he formed great relationships with his community. He proudly served his country and was in the Army and National Guard.
Red also enjoyed some fishing and boating with his children and extended family for many years in Belle River. In their retirement years, he and Jackie enjoyed dancing, vacationing with friends, day trips as well as weekend stays at casinos together. He was a great cook. Some of his specialties included jambalaya, rabbit sauce picante, fish court boullion, and many, many seafood boils. There are so many wonderful memories of gatherings with his and Jackie's siblings and their families, for Sunday afternoon card games, weddings, holidays or just because.
Red loved life so much and cherished his family and friends. He was kind, gentle, easy going, funny, happy and so well like by everyone who knew him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of seventy one years, Jackie Milano Robert; four children, Susan Robert Freeze, Bruce Robert; Marcia Robert Briseno (Roy), and Gwen Robert; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three siblings, Marian Guercio, Eugene Robert, and Clara Ann LeBlanc and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Benoit and Elise Cire Robert; four siblings, Curtis Robert, Herman "Whitey" Robert Sr., Bernard Robert, and Agnes Daigle; two sons-in-law, Steve Modica and Red Freeze and one daughter-in-law, Claire Becnel Robert.
The family would like to thank the staff at Metairie Healthcare Center and the many in home caregivers who loved and cared for Mr. Red throughout his times of need.
